Insurance FAQs

Your rental coverage, explained.

Every vQuip-backed rental does include insurance. Here’s what it is, what’s covered, and who provides it — so you know what you’re getting.

01

Am I insured when I rent?

Yes. When you book a rental from an outfitter that works with vQuip, insurance is included as part of your rental. At a minimum, you're covered for liability while you rent.

Incident Coverage: certain liability coverages, which, generally, may help pay for bodily injury or property damage caused by an accident during your rental.
02

What does the insurance cover?

There are two layers to your coverage:

Included

Liability protection

Automatically part of your rental. Helps protect you if you're responsible for bodily injury to someone else, or damage to their property, in an accident during your rental.

Optional

Added protection

At some outfitters you can choose to add higher limits, or coverage for damage to the rented equipment itself. It's your choice, and it's shown separately when you book.

03

Who provides this insurance?

Your coverage is arranged and serviced by vQuip, and sits within a specialty insurance program. Here's who does what:

  • AgentvQuip Insurance Agency, LLC
  • Program Underwriting ManagerBluefields Specialty Insurance
  • Carrier (underwriter)Benchmark Specialty Insurance Company
  • ReinsurerGreenlight Re
04

Is the insurance mandatory? Do I have to buy it?

The baseline liability coverage is automatic — you don't purchase it separately, and you're covered whether or not you add anything else. What's optional is choosing to buy higher limits or damage protection for the equipment.

You can’t opt out of the baseline cover. The automatic liability protection comes from an annual policy the outfitter holds that covers all of their participants — it isn’t tied to your individual booking and can’t be removed for one renter, even if you have insurance of your own elsewhere.

Why it's included: operating rental equipment — an ATV, boat, snowmobile, e-bike, or similar — carries a real risk of injury or property damage. Building in a baseline of liability protection means that if an accident happens, coverage is already in place to help protect you and anyone affected, rather than leaving it to chance.

In other words, "required" means you're always protected at a baseline level. It does not mean you're required to buy extra coverage.

05

How much does it cost?

Coverage cost will vary based on your experience details. If you choose to add higher limits or equipment damage protection, the price for that option is shown at checkout before you confirm your booking.

06

Will I get a policy or proof of coverage?

When your rental is confirmed, you'll receive confirmation of your coverage — what's covered, the limits that apply, and who to contact with questions. The full terms are set out in the policy documents referenced in your confirmation.

07

How do I make a claim?

If something happens during your rental, report it as soon as you can. Have your rental details ready — your rental dates, the outfitter, and the unit you rented — and contact the claims team at claims.vquip.com.
